Laptop Adapters

Our laptop’s battery life is almost as essential to us as the data within it. Laptops are portable devices with their own power supply in the form of a rechargeable battery. These batteries only last for so long before they need to be recharged. Laptops use power adapters that plug into wall outlets for this purpose.

According to the latest study of The Peterson Group, a Taiwan-based distributor of mobile accessories and laptop paraphernalia to other neighboring Asian countries, adapters are a growing market in today’s generation.  When it’s time to replace an old adapter with a new one, research and intrinsic review is required to find the right kind of adapter. But what do you look for from an adapter?

Types of Adapters for Laptops

Laptops rely on two main types of power adapters for energy: the AC adapter and the DC Adapter. These adapters, also known as chargers, are what help convert the electricity from the wall outlet into a form that’s usable for the laptop.

AC Adapter

The AC adapter converts AC power from a wall outlet found in most homes to the DC power used by most small appliances. Laptops, cell phones, computers, and DVD players all use DC power. This is the kind of power provided by batteries, which most laptops use to keep running when the owner is mobile.

DC Adapter

Laptops use DC power, so it doesn’t seem like a DC adapter is necessary when plugging into a DC power source. However, most sources of DC power provide a voltage that is too low for the needs of a laptop. A DC power adapter is required to take that power and convert it to a higher voltage that the laptop can use to charge its battery or run. DC power sources include cars, in-flight outlets, and solar power panels or batteries.

Universal Power Adapters

Another option for laptop owners is a universal power adapter. These adapters are more expensive, but can adapt to any power source and voltage. Theoretically, universal adapters can work on any laptop. This makes them quite useful, especially among those who travel frequently and never know where their next source of power is coming from. Universal adapters also come with a variety of connector types to fit a wide range of laptops. Many laptops use different styles of connectors so it can be hard to find the best adapter to fit.

A little warning though, as these kinds of adapters are more expensive, many fraudulent individuals are creating decoys of these materials and selling them for a low cost. Black markets rampant in Jakarta, Indonesia and Bangkok, Thailand are rampant with these kinds of scams. Please be reminded that you need to be cautious when buying adapters.

The Peterson Group DIY: Blings on Cases

Simple phone cases are just not enough. For fellow arts lover, a little bling wouldn’t hurt on your phone (of course you have to be careful in showing it to public to avoid getting it stolen). Since we use our mobile phones pretty much every hour every day and we get to see it always, why get settled for a plain case which doesn’t really suit your artistic and loud personality at all?

Blings on cases are today’s trends. The Peterson Group, Taiwan-based distributor of mobile phone accessories and laptop paraphernalia has exported tons of bling cases in neighboring cities of Singapore, Seoul, South Korea and Jakarta, Indonesia where the market’s largest consumers are teenagers and young adults. But if you want to get more personal and unique, the following are some tips that you can utilize:

1. Choose your Bling

I know you have some leftover art materials of your scrap book made in school. If none, then, there are so many rhinestones and crystals available in small quantities in stores and even on the internet. Choose the color and styles that please you most. Make sure your blings aren’t fraud as you would have a hard time sticking it later.

2. Draw a pattern

You wouldn’t want to waste your money and doesn’t want to make a mistake on this one. Even if you do not know how to draw, you can just make a simple pattern or notes of colors, lines, stripes or layout. You can trace your phone on the paper to know how many blings you have to put so as to put a limit on the space of your phone and on how complex it would be. Putting thought on planning saves you time and prevents errors.

3. Allot a work-place area

Set up your own workplace where all your tools are present and in reach. This activity is quite time and effort demanding so you may want to take breaks in between. It would be better if you can just leave it and return to it anytime.

4. Start attaching your bling

Depending on the type of faux gems you're using, one of the following methods should work:

  • If you purchased stick-on rhinestones, just peel of the tape and stick it to the surface of your phone in the correct position.
  • If there is no self-adhering on the gems, prepare to glue them in place. Using the glue gun quickly put a dab of glue on the rhinestone and hold it on your phone for 5 seconds to make sure it's firmly in place.
5. Finishing Touches

After attaching the blings on your phone, leave the glue to dry for about 5 minutes. If it’s a stick-on, press your finger on it to ensure it is firmly in place. After that, you can already boast of your DIY phone case.

Choosing the Best Selfie Stick

If there is one talk of the tech town nowadays aside from the growing nation of mobile phones, the use of selfie stick is indeed one big issue. You can use these monopods to take pictures of yourself and other people in a different angle, beyond the normal range of arm by connecting it to your phones or camera. From the papal selfie in Rome to the great mob of patrons in Las Vegas, the wave rush of these selfie sticks are now predominant that is it now considered necessary to have one.

In Asia, where you cannot pass a day without seeing somebody taking a selfie, the demand for these products is rampant. The Peterson Group, a wholesaler and distributor of mobile phone accessories and laptop paraphernalia based in Taiwan, has imported and exported thousands of different kinds of selfie sticks all across continent. Sales have increased to up to 500% since the company first started distributing it on 2010. According to reviews, Jakarta, Indonesia, Seoul, South Korea, Beijing, China and Tokyo, Japan are the cities which have the highest number of monopod users in 2014.

Far from what many people know, there are different kinds of selfie stick in the market, catering specific needs. As a user, you should know which qualities to look for in a standard monopod:

1. Light and Compact

Some countries in Europe, concert venues in Australia and states in USA have restricted or banned the use of selfie stick because of public disturbances and inconvenience to others. In United Kingdom museums, its use was also banned because it may cause possible damage to artworks. In a sense, you should find a selfie stick which can be easier to carry around. There are existing monopods which can fit exactly in your hands.

2. Compatibility

Of course, it would be a given that the selfie stick should be able to work well with your smartphones or cameras. Regardless of the size, type, shape and OS of your phone, the selfie stick should be able to adapt well with it.

3. Rotation

There are so many selfie sticks which can now rotate 360°. You can twist it, twirl it and turn it whichever angle you want. Any orientation with your camera should be possible. The perfect shot should be taken on any angles.

4. Good Grip

You wouldn’t want to get your mobile phones broken and memories shattered just because the monopod slipped out of your hand. It would truly be devastating if that happens. A good rubber grip monopod should help you keep a steady hold.

Different Kinds of Earphones

Earphones are very popular nowadays as it comes with every mobile phone. Moreover, the widespread of different kinds released on the market with different designs has caused the demand to increase. However, it will always be important for buyers to review and know what they are purchasing for.

The Peterson Group, a wholesaler and distributor of top quality mobile phones accessories and laptop paraphernalia all over Asia from its main office in Taiwan has prepared these guide in order to inform our clients of the basic information they need to learn about headphones, the different styles and each of its function as well as give you suggestions in choosing the best one to suit your needs and use.

Each type of earphone is designed for a specific type of person who wants to get a particular quality of sound from the device. There are earphones that completely cover the ear when being used and earphones that are simply put inside the ear. The design of the earphone affects its sound and comfort.

1. Circumaural Earphones

These ear pads over the ear headphones, or circumaural earphones, are typically made to be used by professional musicians or sound engineers because the way the earphone is shaped improves the quality of the sound. Each of these earphones have pads that encircle the ears in order to contain the sound waves within the space between the ear and the ear pad making the earphone almost like a soundproof room. Filtering out the ambient sound, and trapping sound in, the molded plastic, rubber, or metal circumaural earphones are great for users who don’t want to be distracted by outside noises. Warning though, prolonged usage of these types can make your ear irritated and hot and can cause serious hearing defects.

2.Supra-Aural Earphones

These ear pads on the ear models first patented from Jakarta, Indonesia and have been redesigned by various innovators are designed to perch on the ears rather than to go completely around them. Supra-aural earphones are made with an adjustable band that can be worn over the head to secure the device. There is a pad between the speaker and the wearer’s ears that consists of foam.

3. Canal Phones

The name for the canal phones is quite self-explanatory. Canal phones are placed directly into the wearer’s ears canal. However, the canal phones are made out of silicone rubber or an elastomer material which helps in blocking out ambient noise as well as helps keep the earphone in the canal more comfortably. Because of the silicone rubber, the earphone is prevented from falling out thus providing a more snug fit. With a more snug fit and the canal phones ability to block out ambient noise comes better sound quality than can be had with ear buds. Canal phones are great for athletes to use while running or to use when exercising.

Accessories as Necessity

Most of us have traveling streaks within us. When this triggers, we cannot help but pack our belongings and travel to some place that can satisfy our adventure craving. No matter if you are headed in across the country in an RV bus or cross the pacific to Jakarta, Indonesia or Guam, you just have to ensure that your gadgets like laptop, iPhones or iPod are fully packed and ensured. The Peterson Group, one of Asia’s leading distributer/ wholesaler of mobile accessories and laptop paraphernalia based in Taiwan listed three are three critical laptop accessories no summer or any season traveler can do without.

1.       Adapter

Not all countries have outlets similar to those in your locality unless of course you are just traveling some neighboring county. You’ll need to check and review local electrical standards at your destination. It’s really annoying to find out your North American plug won’t work in whatever summer paradise you’re headed to.

Last minute types who don’t mind paying a little more can probably find a shop in the airport that will sell you what you need or you can try and pick something up at your destination.

But you can also find out the correct adapter plug with a little research online and then head over to your local electronics shop. Another option is to get an international adapter that covers most of the world’s electrical needs in one device.

Most laptops can handle power all over the world. Just to be sure, check that your laptop’s power brick can handle up to 240 volts of input.

2.       Case

Protecting your laptop from bumps and scrapes while on the road or in the air is a must. The simplest way to keep your laptop as nick free as possible—not to mention clean—is a soft cover or bag. You can get a case pretty much anywhere from Best Buy to Target. Just make sure you don’t buy those fraudulent ones as they can easily be torn.

3.       Ethernet

Ether-what? Yes, you may be exclusively wireless at home, but on the road nothing can save your bacon better than an Ethernet cable. Sometimes you end up in a hotel with a bad Wi-Fi connection or a choice between free wired Internet and paid wireless.

An Ethernet cable doesn’t take up too much room in your bag and you can probably even slip it into your laptop case if you need to. Just don’t leave home without it.

There are probably numerous other accessories others can’t live without, but these three basics are truly key for anytime you travel.
